The Day God Caught Me With Rocks In My Hands.

The Day God Caught Me With Rocks In My Hands.

Verse One
Standing above my fallen friend, I glared with pride and call out his sin. He did me wrong, and misplaced my trust. Now he will pay, and his price is blood. Then deep within me, I heard Him speak. Jesus showed mercy, when I was in need. There was a gleam of surprise, when I looked in the sand. I realized God caught me with rocks in my hands.

Chorus
The day God caught me with rocks in my hands. I’d forgotten the mercy, and the grace in which I stand. I traded love and compassion for the judgment of man. The day God caught me with rocks in my hands.

Verse Two
Standing alone, next to my sin, Satan was glaring at me with a grin. He had a case, that proved he was right. He must have forgotten that, I’d saw the light. He stepped from the portals of heaven’s throne. He came over to me and called me His own. I’ll never forget how Satan ran, when Jesus took away the rocks from his hands

Hope...

How do we cope? What do we do in order to make our transition from this life to the next a content one? All hope is only found in one place. Hope is not found in material devices, or fleshly desire for bettering ourselves. Hope is found in a Holy, and Righteous King... The Lord Jesus Christ. If we are placing our hope in anything or anyone else, prepare for misery because your hopes will be shattered. I can not find any other better thing to say than what Peter told the Lord when Christ asked Peter if he would leave Him. Peter said, "Lord, where else would I go?" Amen, Peter. There is a time to live, a time to die, a time to wonder, and wonder why... then there is a time to hope... and hope is only justified in one. That is the Lord Jesus Christ. May you find the hope of eternal salvation and joy... in Christ, and Christ alone. He is my friend.

Go Light Your World

Go Light Your World: John 3:19

I. Introduction: Jesus Christ, The Light of the World. (John 3:19)
A. Jesus Christ Came To Be A Light To Sinners.
1. Light in the darkness exposes our sin. (Romans 5:12)
· Every living human soul ever born, was born into sin.
· We are all sinners from birth, and have a sinful nature.
2. Light in the darkness exposes our self.
· Light reveals our inconsistencies, and the blemishes of our flesh.
· Standing in front of a mirror in the dark illustration.
3. Light in the darkness exposes our Savior.
· God so loved the world. (John 3:16)
· Despite our hopeless, wretched state, God loved us. (Romans 5:8)

B. Darkness: The Love Of Mankind. (John 3:19-20)
1. Mankind loves the darkness. (John 3:19)
· Mankind will chose his evil deeds because he loves his sin.
· Mankind will think he is clean in his own sin. (Proverbs 16:2)
2. Mankind hates the light. (John 3:20)
· Man hates light because it proves he is a liar.
· Man hates light because it proves he is wrong. (Proverbs 16:25)
· Man hates light because it reproves him. (John 3:20)

C. Lessons From A Rock Star. (Proverbs 10:27)
1. Kurt Cobain: Lead Singer of 1990's Nirvana.
· April 1, 1994: Cobain left a California drug rehab center.
· April 8, 1994: Cobain was found in the family greenhouse dead due to a shotgun blast to the head. Police called it suicide.
· Number 1 song of 90’s: Smells Like Teen Spirit, by Nirvana.
· Kurt Cobain's mother had this to say about the suicide death of her son Kurt: "Now he's gone and joined that stupid club. I told him not to join that stupid club" She was talking about the drug related deaths of Jim Morrison, Janis Joplin, and Jimi Hendrix.
· Jim Morrison died on July 3, 1971 in his bathtub overdosed on drugs at the age of 27. Three years later his widow Pamela was found dead at the age of 27 due to a heroin overdose.
· Jimi Hendrix suffocated in a pool of his own vomit due to a drug overdose.
· Janice Joplin died of alcoholic hepatitis and a heroin overdose.
· It is easy to see how much mankind truly loves the darkness.

II. 3 Reasons Why The Wicked Can't Earn Their Way To Heaven.
A. Their Sacrifices Are An Abomination To God. (Proverbs 15:8)
1. The Prayer of the Wicked.
· The prayers of the wicked offend God, because they refuse to hear His Word. (Proverbs 28:9)
· The prayers of the wicked are unheard by God, because they regard sin in their heart. (Psalm 66:18)
· The prayers of the wicked are distanced by God, because they are not living righteously. (Proverbs 15:29)
2. The Works of the Wicked. (Psalm 14:1)
· Their works are corrupt. (Because their works are self serving, and self motivated).
· Their works are offensive to God. (Because they are wasting their God-given talents, and resources on the World.)
· Their works are completely no good. (Every dime, and everything you do or give is absolutely no good.)
B. Their Ways Are An Abomination To God. (Pro. 15:9 TO Romans 3:11-18)
1. They do not seek the Lord, so they have no understanding of God. 11
2. They have all gone out of the way, and they make their own way. 12
3. They use their mouths as weapons of poison, and bitterness. 13-14
4. They have no fear of God. 18
C. Their Thoughts Are An Abomination To God. (Proverbs 15:26)
1. Their thoughts are carnal and fleshly. (Romans 8:6)
2. Their thoughts make them an enemy of God. (Romans 8:7)
3. Their thoughts are of a seared conscience. (I Timothy 4:2)

III. Go Light Your World. (Lead us out of darkness, into light.)
A. Shine The Light Into The Darkness. (Isaiah 60:1-2)
1. You have the glory of God within you. (V. 1)
· You are empowered by the Holy Ghost. (The writer of the Bible is the teacher that lives with in you, let Him lead.)
· You are equipped with the Holy Gospel. (Don't be ashamed of it because it is the power of God unto salvation.)
· You are edified with a Holy Group (The Church). (This is where you will find your support, and examples.)
2. You have the glory of God upon you. (V.2)
· You will be recognized by God's blessing on your life. (People in darkness should see a difference in the way you act.)
· You will be rewarded by God's blessing on your works. (V.3) (God will bring the increase on the works you do.) (John 3:21)
B. We That Have Light Are In Debt To Those Without. (Romans 1:14-17)
1. Salvation is freely given, we must freely give.
2. Don't be afraid to share the Gospel, always be ready.
3. Don't be ashamed to share the Gospel.

Thanks,

Bro. Mike

P.S. Sermon Outlines are posted regularly! Stay Tuned!

Long Hard Night

Folks have been asking me to post something personal on the blog, and not just sermon outlines. I have decided to do so, with the expectation of not absolutely boring my readers to tears. The past week our church has had its annual Bible Conference. We had Dr. Jim Ellis, and Dr. Phil Stringer with us for some prophecy teaching. It has been very full of good teaching, and I personally have gotten great understanding from their efforts. I appreciate them taking time to visit, and wish them both a very safe trip back to the respective homes. We also had Bro. Martin Wickens, missionary to Northern Ireland, drop in for a visit. I have grown very fond of Bro. Martin, and finally had the chance to meet his family. They are a delightful family, and I'll be praying earnestly for them as they are on deputation for their work there in Northern Ireland.

Last Saturday we had my Ordination service. Preachers from around the area came by to serve on my board. It was a long hard night because I had been suffering from the stomach flu the day and evening before, and had become accustomed to the taste of my socks by the time service started. If you missed it, I am referring to my constant vomiting. Thank God I made it through the service. I'd like to thank each member of the board of preachers very much for the attending and serving on such a wonderful occasion for me. It is truly an honor to be counted worthy of this position. Thanks also to my family that came to support me. I can't say enough how important it is to have such caring people praying for me at home.

Please keep my wife in prayer as she has been suffering from severe sciatica. She has an MRI tomorrow which should shed more light on her cause of pain. Also, keep me in prayer as I as always am in need of it.

Thanks for reading, and God bless you!

Bro. Mike

Liberty In Christ

Liberty In Christ

I Corinthians 8:9: But take heed lest by any means this liberty of yours become a stumblingblock to them that are weak.
James 2:12: So speak ye, and so do, as they that shall be judged by the law of liberty.

I. Liberty With Other Christians.
A. Take Heed…
· Paul is saying “Listen Up”! “I am about to say something that contains a good deal of importance”.
· When someone tells you to listen, it is because they want you to understand what they are going to say to you.
· Before you can hear what is going to be said, you must first pay attention to the speaker. This will allow your mind to completely take in what the speaker says to you.
B. Lest by any means…
· The Holy Spirit has each individual under certain convictions. Some things in the scripture are very plain, and require no need for personal convictions. However, some things like preferences, are left up to the Holy Spirit and the believer. This is what a personal relationship with God is all about.
· Since our relationship with God is personal, there may be some preferences you have not had conviction on by the Holy Spirit that another believer has received.
· Example of this would be found when Paul is talking about the eating of meats sacrificed to idols, and the offense it may cause to others by his partaking of it. Paul has liberty to eat the meat, but because it may offend another, he says he will not eat it to save their offense.
C. This liberty of yours…
· This makes it a personal liberty to the believer, because of their position in Christ.
· Since this liberty is given to you because of Christ, it is needed that you understand that anyone who is not in Christ has no liberty.
· As I have already explained in earlier study, this liberty is given that Christians can have the opportunity to choose to do right, not wrong
· Since those without Christ have no liberty, they are still in bondage to the law. They must live after the law and meet the Law’s requirements, which they can not do. This is why they have no liberty.
D. Becomes a stumblingblock to them that are weak.
· As we discussed earlier, sometimes we must refrain from certain activities in order that we do not offend another.
· We do not want our liberty in life to cause another person to stumble in their walk with God. Being a Child of God, we are to be judged by the law of liberty. James 2:12
· We should esteem others higher than ourselves. In doing so, we are less likely to cause another to stumble from our actions.
· Keep in mind that those that are weak are possibly on a different level of understanding, and maturity with God, and His Word. We must take heed that we are not judgmental toward them, but show them the Word of God in love with patience

"The Golden Compass" or "The Backslidden Christian"?

Hello readers. I have been receiving emails, notices, warnings, and having conversations about the movie “The Golden Compass”. The movie, and the author of the books attempt to kill God within its plot. Many Christians are in an uproar about such an abomination, and rightly so. Such trash should not be allowed to litter the televisions of our home. Movies like these are made primarily to tear down the faith of children, and further stupefy the minds of adults. First off, let me say that God is not afraid of this movie. Secondly, God is sitting in heaven laughing at these pagans in their attempt to work against Him. God is not shocked, perplexed, or even troubled at their sin. As a matter of fact, it was Jesus Christ that took their sin, and yours and placed it upon Himself. He became sin for mankind, so that through Him, we would have the opportunity to be saved from our sin. Pray for them, and let God deal with the condemning part.

I am hearing words like, “Take a stand”, “Raise our voices against”, “Boycott this film”. Folks, the real problem here is not the movie. The problem is not the fact that America participates in Abortion, Homosexuality, Pornography, Drugs, Drunk Driving, Domestic Violence, etc. You could take away the movie, and all these issues I have listed, but it would not change anything about the state of our country.

Let me ask you a question, are you born again? Yes? Well then the problem with this country is you! It is me! While we sit back shaking our heads at the issues going on in our country, we are truly unconcerned. A bunch of hypocrites is what we are. If we were truly concerned, we would be “Taking A Stand” against the sin in our own lives! Before we can get the sin out of the White House, we must get the sin out of the Church House! Before we get the sin out of the movie industry, we must get the sin out of the church ministry! If we were to get right with God ourselves, the rest of these issues would begin to go away. Christians today are spoiled rotten with the things of this world. We sit in our big spacious homes, drive our luxury cars, sip our Coca-Cola, take our “Deserved” vacations, throw in our 10% to the church, show up at church once a week, and we think that we are doing God a favor! This, my friends, is the problem. We as a church need to get right with God. Throw away our “perversions” and start teaching from the King James Bible again. Take the booze out of the home, and replace it with prayer. Take the cursing out of our mouths, and replace it with praise. Take the sin from our lives, and replace it with holiness!

Ultimately, the movies in Hollywood will continue to get worse, more and more smut will continue to be released, and attempts to destroy our faith will become more common. You want to change your country? We need to have a change made in us first. Give up your sins, repent, ask for God’s forgiveness, start praying, praising, and giving… then you will be able to make a difference in your country. The word is Revival, and our churches, and Pastors desperately need it today.
