The Importance of Fundamental Believing: Mike McDowell
In today’s modernization of the church, many people have failed to recognize the importance of doctrine. Along with the changing of the music, many churches have seen their doctrine changed to go along with the times to insure a smooth fit. People act as if the Bible is the glove that should be molded to fit the hand (the church), but the honest truth is that the church should be the glove, and the Bible should never be made to fit our personal lifestyle. Many churches are pulling down their doctrines in order to obtain some type of façade that makes them enduring to other denominations. We have lost the determining factors that make us what we are as a group of individuals. I realize I will not be going to heaven simply because I am a Baptist, but it is because I am a Baptist that I understand, and have accepted the truth of the Word of God. Our path to glory is not determined by our works, but by the blood that was shed for us.
The undercurrent of modernization has not only crippled the stance of many churches, but has also crippled the credibility of the Bible. There are so many versions available to us now, that we are clueless as a society in knowing which one is correct. Because of this, many people are now saying that there is no true Word. We have taken texts from trash cans in Alexandria, Egypt, crossed them with other texts that were found in a cave where a group of cultic Jews abode, and then meshed them all together with the “Greek” and “Hebrew” of the Textus Receptus. First let me say this, older doesn’t mean better! I believe that God has preserved His Word through the King James Bible in 1611. I do not call the King James a version, but what it is… THE BIBLE! I encourage you to do some leg work and research on the history of the modern versions. Did you know that a lesbian executive serves on the Board of Directors for the company that produces the NIV? Truly, this “Non Inspired Version” was made for the reason of pleasing those in sin. This executive made sure every mention of “Sodomy” was eradicated from scripture.
The modernization of believers has also caused much damage to the church’s credibility. Long gone are the days when people would ask a preacher in to sit and talk when he was out on visitation. Now folks run to hide, and turn the lights off. Because off people’s offenses, and people’s rights, the believer has completely missed the boat on what service for Christ is all about. Christians these days believe they are doing God a favor by showing up for one service a week. We have people calling themselves Christians that belong on the gallows of the town square swinging from ropes due to their heresy. How do you think Joseph Smith died? A little too much witchcraft, booze, and gun slinging. Does this seem harsh? Please recall the account when Christ drove out the money changers from the temple… I am swinging no flog or whip!
We need to get back to the fundamentals, and leave this modern hype behind us. The church can still have power, and credibility. We first must realize that we are nothing but dust, and Christ is all in all. Throw away the “Per-Versions”, take out our earrings, rethink our wardrobe, and repent of our sins. Let us get back to the fundamentals of faith.
